About Herts Cupping
Tried Physio, Osteopathy, Chiropractic or Massage but Still Feel Tight?
Herts Cupping offers a different hands-on recovery option in St Albans, combining firm manual work, cupping therapy, IASTM muscle scraping and optional Hijama within one focused appointment.
Consultation, focused treatment and clear aftercare without shared rooms, group appointments or a rushed routine.
Why I Built Herts Cupping Differently
Herts Cupping was shaped partly by my own experience. Over the years, I found myself visiting different practitioners for different physical issues. One appointment focused on exercises, another on massage, another on joints, and cupping or Hijama had to be booked somewhere else.
Each route had value. Physiotherapy, rehabilitation and medical assessment can be essential, and there are situations where they should come first. But I also felt that some muscular and recovery-focused problems could benefit from more focused hands-on work and several methods being available within the same appointment.
That became the foundation of Herts Cupping. Instead of forcing every client into one fixed technique, we can work with firm manual treatment, dry cupping, fire cupping, IASTM muscle scraping, percussion and Hijama where appropriate. The method is selected around the client, not the other way around.
The clinic opened in 2023 to provide professional Hijama in a clean, private setting in St Albans. Since then, we have worked with hundreds of clients, including people experiencing stubborn muscular tension, restricted movement, training overload and areas that continued to trouble them after trying other routes.
A recurring theme in our feedback is that the work feels deeper, more focused and more thorough than treatments clients have experienced elsewhere. Some come specifically for Hijama. Others first arrive because they are looking for another option after lighter massage, exercise-led treatment or self-managed stretching has not given them the change they hoped for.
We do not claim to replace doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths or chiropractors. For some clients, our work is an alternative hands-on option. For others, it complements the rehabilitation, strengthening or medical care they are already receiving.
A different option when the usual route has not been enough
Why clients come after physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic or massage
People do not always need to choose one profession forever. Some clients use Herts Cupping after another treatment has not provided the type of muscular release they wanted. Others combine our work with physiotherapy, strengthening or rehabilitation.
Herts Cupping is a complementary and alternative therapy clinic, not a medical or physiotherapy practice. Our role is to provide focused hands-on recovery work using several methods in one appointment. We do not diagnose injuries, prescribe rehabilitation or claim that every client should replace their existing care.
Exercises may be important, but the muscles can still feel tight
Physiotherapy can be essential for assessment, strengthening and rehabilitation. Some clients also seek firm manual work, cupping or IASTM when muscular guarding or tightness is making movement and exercise feel difficult.
You may want more time focused on the soft tissue
Osteopathy and chiropractic care may be useful for musculoskeletal assessment and hands-on treatment. Clients sometimes come to us because they also want a longer, focused session around muscular tension, cupping and recovery work.
The previous treatment may have felt too light, brief or general
A repeated theme in client feedback is that our sessions feel deeper, more targeted and more thorough. We can combine firm manual work with dry cupping, IASTM and percussion rather than relying on massage alone.
You may not have considered cupping therapy or Hijama before
Many clients first discover cupping, muscle scraping or Hijama while searching for another option for recurring tension, restricted movement or recovery. We explain each method and use it only where suitable.
Where Our Approach Fits
Some Problems Need Rehabilitation. Some Need Hands-On Release. Many Need Both.
People often assume pain or an injury automatically means booking one familiar type of treatment. The right route depends on the issue. Our role is to offer a focused complementary option when a client wants muscular work, cupping, IASTM or Hijama alongside, after or instead of a standard recovery appointment.
When Diagnosis, Strengthening or Structured Rehabilitation Matters
Physiotherapy, MSK assessment and medical care may be the most appropriate first step for injury, weakness, neurological symptoms, surgery recovery or unexplained pain.
When the Area Still Feels Guarded, Tight or Restricted
Focused manual work, cupping and IASTM may complement rehabilitation when muscular tension is making movement or exercise feel difficult.
When Previous Hands-On Treatment Felt Too Light or Generic
Some clients choose us because they want a firmer, more targeted appointment with several recovery methods available under one roof.
What Makes the Herts Cupping Approach Different
The difference is not claiming that one method fixes everything. It is having several methods available, using the session properly and being honest about what may or may not help.
One Practitioner, Several Methods
You do not need separate appointments for firm manual work, cupping, IASTM and Hijama. The relevant methods can be combined within one focused session.
Deeper Does Not Mean Careless
We use firm, purposeful work where suitable, but maximum pressure is not the goal. Intensity is adjusted to the client and the area being treated.
We Look Beyond the Obvious Sore Spot
We consider connected tight areas, work habits, training load and previous injury instead of automatically working only where the client points.
We Aim to Make Each Session Count
We do not build the clinic around automatically selling long blocks of treatment. Follow-up is recommended only when it makes sense.
Hijama Remains Central
Clients can choose Hijama alone or include it within a wider recovery session after the area has first been prepared using other methods.
Honest Referral When Needed
If symptoms need medical assessment, physiotherapy or another professional first, we will say so rather than forcing treatment to fit.
Professional Standards Around Every Session
The treatment method matters, but so do the consultation, hygiene, privacy and aftercare surrounding it.
Dedicated Hijama and Recovery Clinic
A focused St Albans clinic built around Hijama, cupping and recovery work rather than offering cupping as a small add-on.
Sterile Single-Use Setup
Hijama blades and relevant disposables are single use, with clear hygiene and clinical waste procedures.
Proper Consultation First
Every session starts with a discussion about health, goals, suitability and the areas needing attention.
Certified Practitioner
Treatment is provided by a certified Hijama practitioner with further training in cupping, IASTM and trigger point work.
Private One-to-One Room
No shared treatment space, group setting or conveyor-belt appointments. The session is focused on one client at a time.
Clear Aftercare and Next Steps
Clients leave with practical aftercare and an honest view on whether another session or another form of care may be useful.
How the Combined Treatment Approach Works
Not every session uses every method. The value is having the right tools available and selecting them according to the client's goals, history and suitability.
Firm Manual Work
Hands-on treatment can be used to assess, warm and work through obvious muscular tension before other methods are added.
Dry or Fire Cupping
Cupping creates suction and a different sensation from pressure-based manual work, helping us approach the area in another way.
IASTM Muscle Scraping
Stainless-steel tools may be used for focused work across stubborn or restricted soft tissue where suitable.
Hijama Wet Cupping
For clients who choose a session with Hijama, wet cupping can be included as the final treatment stage after the area has been prepared.
Hijama Is Not an Afterthought
Hijama was the foundation of Herts Cupping and remains a central part of the clinic. Many people first arrive for pain, tension or recovery without knowing much about wet cupping. A combined session gives them the opportunity to understand Hijama and include it where suitable.
Manual work prepares. Cupping approaches the area differently. IASTM adds targeted tool-assisted work. Hijama completes the chosen combined session.
Hijama is always optional. It may be chosen for Sunnah practice, general wellbeing or because the client values combining wet cupping with focused recovery work.
We Do Not Promise a Fixed Result
- Some clients report a meaningful change after one session.
- Others may need rehabilitation, lifestyle changes or further assessment.
- We do not claim to diagnose or cure medical conditions.
- We do not automatically recommend weekly or long-term treatment plans.
- We explain honestly when another professional may be more suitable.
Who You Will Be Working With
Herts Cupping is a small clinic by design. The aim is to provide focused treatment, proper consultation and clear aftercare rather than maximise the number of appointments in a day.

Questions people ask when comparing treatment options
Clear answers for people deciding between physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic, massage, cupping therapy and Hijama.
Can cupping therapy complement physiotherapy?
Yes, in some cases. Physiotherapy may focus on assessment, rehabilitation, strength and movement, while a Herts Cupping recovery session can provide additional hands-on work for muscular tension and restriction. Always follow the advice of your physiotherapist or medical professional where relevant.
Why might someone try Herts Cupping after massage?
Some clients tell us that previous massage felt too light, too general or did not focus long enough on the main problem area. Our sessions can combine firm manual work, dry cupping, IASTM muscle scraping and percussion within one appointment.
Is Herts Cupping an alternative to osteopathy or chiropractic?
It can be another hands-on option for some clients, but the services are not identical. Osteopaths and chiropractors have their own training and scope of practice. Herts Cupping focuses on complementary recovery work, muscular tension, cupping, IASTM and optional Hijama.
Do you diagnose injuries or identify the medical root cause?
No. We discuss symptoms, history, movement and areas of tension, but we do not provide medical diagnosis. New, severe, unexplained or worsening symptoms may need assessment by a GP, physiotherapist, MSK professional or another suitably qualified clinician.
What do you mean when you say the treatment goes deeper?
It does not mean using maximum pressure. It means spending focused time on the main area, using firm manual work where suitable and adding methods such as cupping or IASTM when one technique alone may not provide the type of treatment the client wants.
How does Hijama fit into a recovery session?
For clients who choose a session with Hijama, manual work, dry cupping or IASTM may be used first before wet cupping is included as the final treatment stage. Hijama remains optional and is used only when suitable.

EXCELLENT Based on 69 reviews Posted on Google Adnaan AliTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Shahid helped me with my recovery with my hamstring but he recommends the best course of action. For example, I initially asked for hijama for my hamstring but he advised a targeted recovery session would be more helpful for my needs. He also gave me gym exercises to help with recovery. After the session I noticed my issue subsided. He’s really friendly and I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.
